4th of July
July 3, 2022 - July 4, 2022
Event Details
There are no fireworks in Davidson, but residents are invited to celebrate our nation’s independence with a patriotic stroll along South Street to the town green (see details below) and a concert on the green on Monday, July 4 (6:00). The parade will include a color guard, a fire engine, and lots of patriotic residents.
“This is a great way for our entire community to come together and show our Davidson spirit,” said Community and Economic Development Manager Kim Fleming.
“We hope to see neighbors from all over town — from Davidson Pointe to Davidson Landing to Summers Walk — in the parade and on the green for the concert,” said Fleming.
Participants
To walk in the stroll, residents are asked to line up in front of the 251 South Street building at 5:15 p.m. Police will be closing off South Street (starting at Cathey Street) between 5:10 and 5:35 p.m. so that participants can line up in the road and on the sidewalks. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. All participants are encouraged to march in the parade dressed in Independence Day attire and to decorate their wagons, bicycles, tricycles, and pets in red, white, and blue. A color guard comprised of members of the police and fire departments will lead the parade up South Street onto Main Street and the town green.
Fireworks
The Davidson Police Department reminds residents to remember their own safety and that of their neighbors — per the North Carolina General Statute, fireworks are strictly prohibited for personal use.
