According to SAMSHA, there are 8 dimensions to creating a healthier life through actively monitoring and managing the direction.
When we first look at the dimensions of wellness, our eye is usually drawn to a dimension that is strong for us – one that we’re managing pretty well. For example, if you exercise regularly, get adequate sleep, and eat pretty well, your eye may be attracted to the Physical Dimension. And when you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, you work out – that’s awesome.
When you’re in a strong place in your wellness journey, consider adopting a dimension you’ve not cultivated as much. Maybe you choose the Emotional Domain – you can cultivate relationships that feed you.
So the next time you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, you can exercise AND you’re better able to reach out to a friend for support.
